"Make no mistake, Moir is the real thing. To watch this gifted young man is a joyful experience.
Characters come to life: The beach head of Dieppe, the sea wall, the smoke, the fire, the blood, the sweat, the madness. His characterizations are pitch perfect. And he looks the part, from proud strong jaw to spit shined shoes, his voice evoking a tinge of James Stewart when he chokes up.
He sheds a tear at the end: one, a real one. It's electric. If you're the older type who don't think they make art for you any more, and for youngsters unaccustomed to theatre that celebrates simple grace and humanity - buy a ticket.
A pure triumph. (Five stars.)"

"The moment the lights come up, we are transported back to the Second World War. Moir, clad in a genuine vintage 1940s army uniform, captures his audience’s attention with a deceptive ease, and holds it for all 90 minutes.
And his tearful, silent salute at the end may be the single most striking moment of acting you’ll see this year. (Five stars)."

"Moir’s depiction of the chaplain from small-town Ontario is nuanced and satisfying, a mix of the decent men once portrayed by film actor Jimmy Stewart and the memorable cadences of CBC Radio storyteller Stuart McLean.
Padre X’s story, like the legacy of the war, resonates deeply. (Five stars)."

"You got it right."
"How did you get inside my head like that?"
"That was exactly what it was like."
