Something Rotten

Mecca Productions kicks off their 2023/24 Season with the smash hit Broadway musical Something Rotten! Nov 2-5 at the beautiful WMCA. Something Rotten! follows the hilarious struggles of playwright brothers Nick and Nigel Bottom in the time of Shakespeare. When their dreams of writing a hit show are thwarted by ‘the Bard’, the brothers go big to make their mark: creating the world’s FIRST musical -something you have to see to believe!

This musical comedy combines Shakespeare in Love with a big dash of Monty Python’s Spamalot, resulting in a great time to audience members and cast members.

With music by Karey and Wayne Kirkpatrick, the writers who brought you classics like The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy and Mrs. Doubtfire the musical, Something Rotten! is uproarious fun through and through.

The Director of Something Rotten!, Lisa Vasconcelos, is excited for audiences to see the show. “This show is so much fun! It’s the perfect choice to start our biggest and best season yet! A passion project for many of our team, who after seeing it in New York, have waited anxiously to bring it to westman audiences. Wonderful score, funny script brought to life by a top-notch cast, live orchestra and a creative team like no other - the result is great night out! Something Rotten! attracted auditioners from across southern Manitoba which has allowed us to create a STELLAR team, on and off stage, for Mecca’s 35 th musical in westman!”
