This spring, the Assiniboine Theatre Company and Brandon University Theatre are joining forces to present William Shakespeare’s beloved comedy, Twelfth Night. This colorful, contemporary, musical production is conceived by director Rochelle Douris, based on Drew Douris-O’Hara’s exquisite adaptation, originally commissioned by Shakespeare By The Sea (Halifax, NS.)
Our Twelfth Night is multi-media reimagining of Shakespeare’s beloved romantic comedy, set on the grounds of a music festival, and featuring an original soundtrack combining the sounds of country, rap and pop music. It is designed to make Shakespeare accessible to a modern audience, exploring the play’s themes of mistaken identity, gender roles, and power struggles with humour, joy and non-stop action, while retaining Shakespeare’s original text and dialogue.
